CHAPTER 1 Getting Started with the Merchant Administration Site

The Merchant Administration site is a set of Web pages located on the CyberSource Web site, http://www.cybersource.com. You use the Merchant Administration site in conjunction with the application programming interface (API) software of the CyberSource Internet Commerce Suite (ICS) to administer Stored Value Services on your company's Web site. Administrative tasks are divided between the API and Merchant Administration site as follows:

• You use API software to send application or service requests to the CyberSource server after you have established your Stored Value Services program and set up profiles
• You use the Merchant Administration site to set up profiles, issue certificates that do not require payment information, upload batch files, and perform other administrative tasks

This chapter summarizes how to get started with the CyberSource Stored Value Services and explains how to access the Merchant Administration site.

Before Using CyberSource Stored Value Services

Before you begin using Stored Value Services, you need to perform certain tasks such as registering with CyberSource and creating profiles using the Merchant Administration site. These and other tasks you need to perform prior to getting started are listed in the following procedure.

Procedure: Getting Started with Stored Value Services

1. Define your Stored Value program clearly, and establish the goals and administrative procedures of your program. For assistance, see the Stored Value Planning Guide, available on the CyberSource Support Center.
2. Download the appropriate software and documentation from the CyberSource Support Center.
3. Install CyberSource software on your server.
4. Register with CyberSource and receive your merchant ID and password.
5. Set up at least one certificate profile using the Merchant Administration site. See Profiles for information about creating profiles.

Accessing the Merchant Administration Site

After you have registered with CyberSource and obtained a merchant password, you can access the Merchant Administration site on the Internet using either the test or production mode. Use the test mode to practice setting up profiles, generating reports, and using the other Merchant Administration features. Use the production mode only after you have set up and tested your certificate program and you are ready to begin issuing live certificates.

To access the test mode of the Merchant Administration site, go to http://svtest.ic3.com/adminx/ma1.dll/login.html. To access the production mode of the Merchant Administration site, go to http://storedvalue.ic3.com/adminx/ma1.dll/login.html.
