About This Guide
The information in this guide is intended for merchants, webmasters, developers, and others who plan to use the Merchant Administration site to configure and maintain CyberSource Stored Value Services, one of the services offered in the CyberSource Internet Commerce Suite (ICS).
Documentation Changes and Enhancements
The following changes were made to this guide since its last publication:
- Removed information about having your gift certificates printed by CyberSource. CyberSource no longer performs this service.
- Documented the new Printed Certificate File Download utility. See Printed Certificate File Download for more information.
Topics Covered
This guide includes these sections:
- Chapter 1, "Getting Started with the Merchant Administration Site". This chapter explains how to access the Merchant Administration site and use it to manage Stored Value services.
- Chapter 2, "Using the Merchant Administration Site". This chapter explains how to use the Merchant Administration site in the daily operation of your Stored Value program.
- Chapter 3, "Training Exercises for the Merchant Administration Site". This chapter contains training exercises to help you learn to use the Merchant Administration site.
- A Glossary, which defines terms used in the administration of Stored Value Services.
Skill Level Required
To get the most out of this guide, you need to be familiar with the tools and languages required to implement and administer Stored Value Services. Depending on the implementation method you choose, you need some or all of the following skills:
- A familiarity with the business logic and implementation of Stored Value Services
- The ability to use web browser software
- The ability to write programs in C, C++, Perl, or Java
- The ability to write VBscript, JavaScript, or other scripting languages
- A familiarity with HTML code
Conventions
This guide uses the following conventions to differentiate information:
- Fields and commands appear in bold font (for example, product_code and ics_auth).
- Program examples and command-line messages appear in fixed-width font (for example,
Error: Problem contacting database).- Information you type at a command line exactly as shown appears in bold, fixed-width font (for example,
field_name).- Variable information you type at a command line appears in italic, bold, fixed-width font (for example,
your_merchant_id).- Menu selections and other elements of the graphical user interface (GUI) are capitalized (for example, Start > Run).
Graphical Icons
Six graphical icon formats appear throughout this guide to denote specific types of information.
Example: The Example icon indicates a code sample or application of instructions.
Exercise: The Exercise icon indicates a section with a training scenario to help you learn a skill.
Note: The Note icon indicates supplemental information or information of special note.
Important: The Important icon indicates important information and cautionary notes that prevent you from making a mistake.
Procedure: The Procedure icon indicates a step-by-step procedure.
Warning: The Warning icon indicates vital information that prevents you from making an unrecoverable error.
CyberSource Support Center
